Bardo

Overview
Bardo is a mobile app that helps normalize the end of life by building a meaningful legacy. I designed an editorial onboarding with black-and-white illustrations that introduces the purpose and reduces emotional friction. The flow guides people to craft their first Wish—a posthumous message with text, photos, music, or gifted items—and safely choose recipients. The experience prioritizes clarity, a calm tone, and reversible decisions at every step.
The system combines guided prompts, free writing, and explicit confirmations to avoid sensitive mistakes. Recipient selection integrates phone contacts and Bardo users, with invitations when someone isn’t a member yet. The flow ends with a verifiable summary and a success screen that communicates calm and control. Visual identity, microcopy, and accessibility (≥44pt targets, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver) support an inclusive, respectful experience.
- Narrative onboarding with a compassionate tone.
- Create Wishes with text, photos, and music.
- Assign recipients and invite non-members.
- Public legacy profile to share memories

Results
We transformed Bardo from concept to a production-ready MVP with a gentle, trustworthy brand and a UI that guides users through sensitive tasks with clarity. The core journeys—onboarding, creating a Wish, selecting recipients, and the shareable public memorial profile—were designed end-to-end and documented for smooth handoff.
- Cohesive brand identity and iOS UI kit (logo, palette, typography, iconography, illustration guidelines).
- Narrative onboarding with low-friction Apple/Google sign-up to reduce entry barriers.
- Wish composer combining prompt library and free-write, plus photo/music/bequest attachments and safe-exit confirmation.
- Recipient selection flow with clear permissions copy, unified search across device contacts and in-app people, multi-select, and invite flow.
